Why it's hard to use a database inside a page
Posted under Development by Twyst (---.hs.telusplanet.net) on Sunday October 08 2000 @ 01:26PM EDT
Development Well, I've just realized why it's such a pain to use my own database routines in phpweblog, without causing errors in the script itself.

    $db = mysql_connect($G_HOST,$G_USER,$G_PASS);
@mysql_select_db($G_DB) or die("Unable to connect to databa [...]

    Admin-Only blocks
Posted under Development by Twyst (---.hs.telusplanet.net) on Saturday October 07 2000 @ 09:12PM EDT
Development Why not have a block that is for admins only - For extra functions that we can add? It's a pain having several different URLs to use.

    Database Abstraction
Posted under Development by Sycophant (202.37.194.---) on Saturday October 07 2000 @ 06:27AM EDT
Development As a proud and happy user of PostgreSQL, I am very keen to see a Database Abstraction layer added soon, it is now top of the TODO list... How far away is it? Have you any idea which you will use, or are you going to code your own?

I hate to moan about [...]

    Missing feature
Posted under Development by Remco Brink (213.203.46.---) on Friday October 06 2000 @ 10:37AM EDT
Development Is it intentional that there is no counter on the full pages I create?

Apparently stories, links etc get hit-counted. However any full pages linked in the top menubar are left counter-less.

    Any easy fix for this?

    0.3.0 - 0.4.0 upgrade
Posted under Development by jason (---.eyeintegrated.com) on Thursday October 05 2000 @ 01:59PM EDT
Development This has been the trickiest part of this release. Ensuring that existing 0.3.0 sites can safely upgrade to the new 0.4.0. So much has drastically changed in the database schema. You are urged to make a backup of your good data before trying this upgrad [...]

    change "Story" to "Blah"
Posted under Development by scott (---.dnpt1.occa.home.com) on Thursday October 05 2000 @ 04:23AM EDT
Development How hard would it be to change the "Topics" and "Top 5 topics" to something else like "Items"

Where in the code would this be changed?

Email notification on new story comments
Posted under Development by Vincent Danen (---.nucleus.com.94.34.207.in-addr.arpa) on Wednesday October 04 2000 @ 12:13AM EDT
Development Is it possible in 0.4.0 to have phpweblog email the admin and/or author of a story if a new comment is posted to the story? The reason I ask is when you start to get more and more stories, it gets hard to keep up on who's posting new comments to what st... [...]

    Send notifications to several emailadresses?
Posted under Development by Daniel (---.telelev.net) on Tuesday October 03 2000 @ 07:45AM EDT
    Development Hi Jason,
    Hi all the others,

is there any possibility to send admin notification to several adresses? I want to share the responsibility on the content with someone :-), because I'm often away.

The other question is, if there could be an informati [...]

    Safe to install 4.0?
Posted under Development by Big D (---.itribe.net) on Monday October 02 2000 @ 01:57PM EDT
Development I know that 4.0 is still unstable, but is it stable enough to install without having to do a major re-install when the final comes out? For example, are the database tables going to change anymore before the final?... [...]
