  • Development Comment Rid BUG FIX - Development

There was another bug found for those upgrading from 0.3.0.
Without fully understanding what went wrong, a solution was found by adding a line in comments.inc.php. This bug could cause some servers to go into a loop reading for comments recursively. You can either get the latest unstable version for the corrected file, or simply add this line in yourself. I attached a diff so you can see where the error lies.

This worked awesome except for the first comment... ie. comment #1 for story #1. The problem still exists. I fixed it by changing the Rid of comment #1 from 1 to 189 (the last Rid in the database for T_Comments is 188). Once I changed this, it worked perfect. I think having everything set to 1 (the Rid, the TopRid, etc.) caused the problem with the first story. That was a test comment anyways so I'll just delete it now, but I wanted to let you know that it all works good now (but anyone still having problems now should perhaps know now how to resolve it... it means losing one comment only with the diff applied).

    Thanks, Jason!

Brian Carpenter reported this bug, and sure enough, theres still something funky happening here which I haven't fixed. FYI
