  • language support with PHP3
Posted under General by ThwartedEfforts on Thursday October 26 2000 @ 11:35AM EDT
It appears that none of the language defines are not working. The links across the top appear as the defined constant name, not as what the value is. For example, the label for the find box appears as "_FIND" not "find" (I've set the language to english). I've done minor experimentation to get it fixed: if I move the inclusion of the language file around in common.inc.php from the bottom to the top or inline the language defines rather than include the language file, it seems to work.

I'm running version 0.4.2 on mod_ PHP/3.0.12 (waiting for my hosting provider to upgrade). The language settings are messed up, and I think it's a capatiblity issue between PHP3 and PHP4 (in all honesty, I don't know that much about PHP, this is the first time I've used it).

I can get it working if I move the include for the langugage file up to the top of common.inc.php, right after the define of G_PATH. Of course, I can not use a configured language because the check for that comes at the end of the file and needs to be done afte the CONF array is set. (I'm a little leary to start hacking up phpweblog in order to get it working how I want at this point. :) ).
