  • Here I am Again -- Questions and Suggestions - General

Everything is coming along great so far. I have the latest unstable up and running on two sites right now. http://wwjd.up-link.net and http://kabf.up-link.net (local radio station) anyway, I was looking for the send this page link and I don't see it. Also, my archive link for the wwjd site shows december 1969 and november 2000, on the kabf site, it only shows the november 2000.

Also I wanted to make a suggestion, I haven't seen anyone post a request for a built in calendar and I didn't know if this was anything that Jason was thinking of adding anyway. It would be great for a site like the radio station to post upcoming events and even for the church site I'm working on.

One more thing and I'll shut up :-) I wrote a gretting card script (there is a link for it at http://wwjd.up-link.net) and it works really well with one exception; I can't get the categories for cards to alphabetize nor the categories for midi files. If anyone has a suggestion please email me at sysadmin@up-link.net I hate to post that here but you all seem like php whizzes where I'm not!

Wow, so colorful! =) One suggestion though, since you are using the unstable, which now has Feature-type pages, you may want to consider using them so that your navigation bar isn't so cluttered. The pages act the same, except for they are linked from a box called Features rather than on the nav bar.

There are some issues with the unstable, the archiving needs debugging, as you're seeing.

I haven't really considered doing a calendar system. Perhaps someone who really wants one will write one, so that I can include it. *cough hint cough* =]

And as far as your card sending script... are you pulling the categories from a database, if so just use the 'ORDER BY' clause in your sql statement.

This would be interesting. On my site, I have a 'timeline' link on the nav bar that takes you to a timeline of my life (which I really need to update, but it's a bitch to do that because of the way I have it reading from the database). An integrated calandar would be sweet. Perhaps, cough cough, ahem, I'll look into contributing something. :)

Hmmm....mabye I should try my hand at a *cough* *cough* calendar script ;-)

As for the cards, the images are in a directory as are the midi files and depending on what category is selected, it opens and reads that dir. The cards are not stored on the server, just the info in the database so the cards are created on-the-fly whenever they are viewed.
