  • Want A List Of Stories For Include
Posted under Development by Michael healy on Saturday December 02 2000 @ 10:36AM EST
Development I want a list of stories, that kind of looks like the 'Older Stories' Block here on phpWebLog except I want it to display a certain number of the most recent articles and be able to include it on another page through ssi or include()

Just wanted to say that I developed an addon for this but I haven't made it releasable yet but may in the future. It's in use at http://www.simsearch.com right now.

This sounds like RDF exporting, which phpWebLog can already do. When enabled, a file is written in Netscapes RSS format of the newest 10 stories from your site. There are many RSS/RDF fetchers written in a variety of languages that you can use to pull in this exported file.

My way is much easier, it just calls one quickie.php file into the html page using ssi and gets the latest 5 stories from the database. It can be configured for any number of stories and uses templates.

I released the code at my scripting site located @ http://www.sismearch.com/pascripts/ . Anybody who wants it can download it there, instructions included in the quickie.php file on how to install.
