I would like to tell you about an idea for a future addon that seems to be similar to your idea. It would be a sort of "inventory manager" where a shop can have a sort of catalog.

the addon should:
-easly implement the catalog ( product id, price, description, name ,
image upload ) as administrator or from visitors (the admin should validate)
-categories ( books, pens.....)
-switch on and off the products

The very important thing is that the visitor can have a "reduced" view of the catalog ( for example no price, and only a certain number of
categories ) where the administrator / or a certain amount of verified users, can view everything.

Another important thing is that administrator (only admin) can see how many products went into the catalog and how many went out in a month or in a year. Best of all, the addon can store the total amount ($) of sales and total amount ($) of purchase.
No shopping cart is required at the moment but i don't know in the future ;)

I really don't know if this can be made as addon for PWL and how hard it is.
Do you think that it would be a good idea?

It sounds more like a stand-alone application or even a shopping cart addon more than it does a phpWebLog addon.

maybe, but i'm very interested in it and in integration with pwl. I also could pay for it if not so expensive.

It can be a sort of extranet where owners can have a look to goods they have / don't have in the shop and where visitors can know news and also see a reduced view of information on goods

If you know other stuffs that do this, Please tell me.
