    Hardcoded image URL? views: 245
    By Vincent Lowe (---.tnt12.bos2.da.uu.net) on Tuesday June 26 2001 @ 05:39AM EDT [ General ]
...just finished making changes to the layout for "Technologically Incorrect" http://ti.aquecorp.com and I still have a couple of small issues that I can't resolve.

When the comments for a story are rendered, there is a small icon that appears before the comment (I'm using a modifed version of OSDN as the layout style). I cannot find anything in the templates that causes the icon to appear, and although I couldn't locate the code that inserts the image reference in the F_drawStory() function.

If I look at the rendered page, I see that there is a reference to an image file that is from the "clean" template directory. I can't see a place to control where that image is supposed to come from.

Am I missing something? Do I need to provide more information? (example page URL for instance?) -- okay, here's a related link:

I don't really see the problem. It goes like this.
You used "clean" as your comment template in your layout.
    In the clean/comment.tmpl, you'll see a reference to $imagedir which is yourdomain.com/backend/template/clean/images/.

So that's how it gets hardcoded. It's really the $imagedir variable in the clean comment template file.

...thanks. I just looked and I had missed it, but the comment template was indeed for "clean"

Anyway, what we discovered was that images (or anything under backend/... was being made inaccessible to the public for security reasons. Releasing that restriction solved the problem. But I couldn't figure out where the reference to the "clean" template was coming from.

Turns out that it was so in my configuration as you predicted. No hard coding involved.

    Thanks again. Site is humming...
