A quick but mildly detailed doc was added to the documentation section of phpWebLog on SourceForge explaining the new 0.4.0 templates/themes system which can be found here.

Before 0.4.0 is released, I had to hoped to add a few more decent templates to show you the flexibility that the new system can offer. I haven't had much time to do this (doing the stress thing right now), but if anyone is interested in creating a template to be included with the 0.4.0 release, you can send them to me by email at jason@greenhell.com.

Well, I'm currently working on using the templates - I've basically copied over the 'default' theme to play with it, and I've managed to combine my old site's code with phpweblog (for the most part .. Still working on the link system.. got a few ideas there..)

You can take a look at what I've done at http://twysted.net/phpweblog/series - all the pages are using your templates..

Basically, I'm getting the code done, THEN messing with the actual layout.

One thing I would like to see is the ability to define new templates, like 'review.tmpl', perhaps with a 'review.var' to list the variables(so that layout.inc.php can assign the right info to the template..) I dunno how that would work..

hmm great concept though. that would be very tricky and would require much more thought than i have in me at the moment. i'd drink a guiness and try again.

How about some kind of template database (in the future, when there are actually more than three or something) that would operate kinda like themes.org, where everyone could submit their own templates. Maybe about ten million psychos would start to make their own themes just like those psychos who seem fixated on Britney Spears xmms skins.

    just a thought.

Oh yeah-- I really, really, really miss that kuro5hin template. It was gorgeous (but then, so is kuro5hin's site)
Your templates are SO much better than thatware's (god, are those UGLY or what!)

Oh, uh, one more thing: on the tainted template polls, the bar graph shows up near-black on a black background. Sorry to gripe at ya.
